building43 is open!

Product & DevelopmentI’ve been waiting a while for building43 to launch its community site because I was very excited behind the premise of their idea:  to help “the little guy” understand what new internet technology developments mean to them.  It’s not about announcing what is the latest and greatest (they’ll leave that to TechCrunch and others) but instead discussing the practical implications of these new technologies and the ways they can be applied to your business effectively.

building43’s “… goal is to help small business enter the modern world. Robert Scoble

I love the angle on educating small to medium business, focusing on the “how to” for internet tools, and giving them a voice which really aligns well with the Business Ready philosophy.

What’s in the name?  Originally I thought it was named after Google’s Building 43 (the brain trust for Google search and where Larry & Sergei hang out) but it seems there are deeper roots to a mental-health facility.  Hah!  Love it - we do crazy well here too.

So, it’s still early days at building43 (they went live last Thursday) but I like the idea and I encourage all of you to check them out whether it be the site, twitter, friendfeed, RSS, etc.  If nothing else, check out the plugins the site uses that are made available to you.  Yeah!
