Recently, like many of you probably, I received an email from LinkedIn encouraging me to make my twitter account visible on my LinkedIn profile and also installing their Tweets app to manage my tweets within LinkedIn (I’m already using TweetDeck). Which got me thinking:
do I want twitter on LinkedIn? why am I even considering this?
My professional persona can be found here on the blog (to try and educate and provide my opinions with regards to small business), LinkedIn (which I see as my resume), and on Twitter (which is my casual voice - often used for quick rants and raves).
On my LinkedIn profile I use the WordPress app so that you can see our blog entries there. As well, I’ve listed our home page and the twitter account under the websites section. But do I want to show my twitter feed and manage my tweets through this?
No! Which begs the question: why not?
I guess I see twitter as my inside voice, more casual, more likely to say something completely inappropriate. Do I want that right next to my highly polished resume as a CFO? Hmmmm, a bit career limiting. So then why do I link to my twitter account at all? I guess I assume not many people will click through - why should I make it easier for them to mix the professional with the personal (although most of my tweets are business related).
So, my question to you is this: do you have your twitter feed on your LinkedIn profile?
